Revenge of the Tea Partiers

On April 25, 2009, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

In what can only be described as a major embarrassment for a sitting elected official, state Sen. Maurice Washington lost in his bid to become the new Chairman of the Washoe County Republican Party on Thursday night, losing to a frontline grassroots volunteer named Michelle Beard.

My “stringers” at the meeting say Washington was primarily hurt by his closeness to moderate establishment GOP state senate colleagues Bill Raggio and Randolph Townsend – both of whom voted for that huge room tax hike earlier this session and both of whom are expected to support whatever additional huge tax hike the Democrats come up with before the end of the session.

Seems “tea party” anger at Republicans who tax and spend too much is, indeed, real.

    Mr. Muth,

While Michele (one “L”) Beard, my wife, did win the election I believe your conclusion is wrong.

I do not believe it was the “tea party” issue and dissatisfaction with Senator Washington that won the election for her.

Rather I think it was the long hours she spent as a volunteer at the Washoe County Republican HQ and her equal and fair support of all groups that won over the majority of delegates.

Michele is grass roots and I want to thank all the other grass roots for supporting her. I am pretty proud of her winning.

I think any simpleton would have beat Washington. The way he has whined so hard to continue to retain his seat, and try to go out of his way to stifle the voter approved limitations, has made him look like a schmuck. What’s wrong Washington? Can’t find a real job?

We are going to Washington DC on July 4th and again on Sept 11 & 12 to participate in Freedom Works ‘tea parties’. They hope to have 250,000. so help spread the word would you please.
