So obsessed were Democrats on passing their billion dollar tax hike in time to override Gov. Gibbons’ promised veto that Speaker Barbara Buckley began debate on the final $781 million leg of the bill….before the bill even arrived in her chamber from the Senate. Assemblyman Goedhart reported that the paper was still warm when the bill was handed to him on the Assembly floor. And there wasn’t even time to read it before Buckley forced a vote on it.

Is this any way to run a government?

Keep Veto Override Hope Alive

On Friday, the Senate voted for the final leg of the billion dollar Raggio Tax Hike, 17-4, including five of the nine GOP votes. The bill now goes to the governor for his veto – and will then come back to the Legislature for a vote to either override the veto or sustain it.

Republicans Who Spend Too Much

AB 562 was approved in the Assembly on Thursday by a vote of 34-7. The bill increases government spending by about $700 million dollars over and above what Gov. Jim Gibbons proposed last January, and more than a billion dollars over and above what the Economic Forum projects the state will take in via existing revenues…..meaning huge tax hikes will be necessary to fund this budget.

About That Wynn Lawsuit
