U.S. Senate candidate Mike Wiley (R-Pluto) seems to be (a) having trouble understanding plain English, and (b) keeping track of all of the drivel he writes.
Yesterday, I wrote: “Mike Wiley sent out an email this week indicating he might not run for the United States Senate in the Nevada GOP primary after all.”
The operative word in that sentence is “might.”
Mike Wiley responded yesterday afternoon: “Please send a copy of the e-mail you say I sent out saying I was going to resign.”
The main point being, of course, that I never wrote that he “was” going to resign, only that he “might.”
And of course I’m not going to send him a copy of the email so that he can find out who shared it with me. However, I will quote directly from it and let readers decide whether or not Wiley indicated he “might” quit the race:
“I for one will drop out of this race in a few months if the people I know who may want to support me, can’t support me.”
I mean, pretty much plain as day, right?
And since the people most likely to support Mike Wiley live on other planets and aren’t allowed to vote for or contribute to his campaign, dropping out in a few months would seem to be, based on his own words, a foregone conclusion.
Thanks for writing, Mike. It’s always fun making fun of you….though it is a bit like shooting fishsticks in the freezer.

Chuck,
I’m sure that you have seen it already, but your readers need to be made aware of Jon Ralston’s interview with Mike Wiley. I honestly do not know which part was the best. So here are a couple of my favorites:
Segment One: http://www.lasvegassun.com/videos/2009/oct/22/3086/
2:48 Ralston relates Wiley’s previously stated opinions about UFOs and government coverups. Which, considering everything else that comes out of Wiley’s mouth, the UFO part seems to be him at his most cogent.
3:48 Mike Wiley presumes to lecture Jon Ralston on how the media works!
Segment Two: http://www.lasvegassun.com/videos/2009/oct/22/3087/
2:42 When Mike Wiley claims that the power elite in Washington are undermining his campaign because they are afraid of him Jon asks the perfectly relevant question “Do you think Barack Obama has idea who you are Mr. Wiley?”
4:54 Jon has to point out to Wiley that Harry Reid has been in the Senate longer than 12 years.
Segment Four: http://www.lasvegassun.com/videos/2009/oct/22/3089/
1:24 Jon Ralston asking in bafflement, “What does the fact that you are Jewish have to do with anything?” in response to Mike’s ramblings about why the Clinton administration tried to have him taken off the air. You can almost hear in Ralston’s tone of voice a desire to instead ask “Are you taking medication?” Wiley then confirms that he is from another planet a few seconds later by suggesting that Clinton Democrats attacked him despite him being Jewish (Was Moses from Pluto???) because of his “name change” ???
2:01 Wiley stating that, “You always have to pick your battles” in response to Ralston’s question as to why Wiley did not sue his former station for supposedly firing him on behalf of the Clinton family. WHAT? So picking battles does not mean fighting an (alleged) unjustified firing, but what it does mean is entering an already heavily congested Republican primary for United States Senate that you have almost literally no chance of winning?
4:08 When Jon Ralston (almost in desperation) asks Wiley what sets him apart from the plethora of other GOP candidates Wiley’s erudite response is, “I’m me.”
Of course, the most hysterical part is that Wiley actually LINKS to these interviews on his campaign website!
