Ross Miller Deputy Slams Citizen Protestors

On December 31, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

Conservative citizens showed up in force at a hearing on Thursday to protest a series of election regulations Democrat Secretary of State Ross Miller is proposing for the 2012 campaigns. For their trouble and concern, those citizens were roundly criticized and ridiculed by Miller’s office for daring to raise objections at the public hearing.

“It is unfortunate that these individuals apparently haven’t taken the time to fully read the proposed regulations or completely digest their impact,” Deputy Secretary of State Bob Walsh told Sean Whaley of the Nevada News Bureau.

Mr. Walsh’s claim that these concerned citizens didn’t take the time to read the proposed regulations is a load of flapdoodle. But if they DID have difficulty digesting and understanding them, they could surely be excused.

Government employee/public defender/lobbyist Orrin Johnson of Reno slammed “Republicans in Clark County” as rubes and yahoos in his blog on Friday for protesting election regulation changes being proposed by Secretary of State Ross Miller “because nowhere is there any hint of the actual substance of what is being protested.”

One of those “Republicans in Clark County” who actually showed up at the hearing this week to show her opposition and express her concerns responded thusly (name withheld):

“Orrin is a nobody and I could not care less what he says. It is very clear from his article he has not even bothered to read the proposed changes or what actually happened in the hearings, which he could have viewed on his computer live or archived before running his mouth.

“If you have not looked at the changes you might want to. I think you will be surprised on just how much this waters down our election law. It removes the oath from the registration form and essentially removes any penalty for voting illegally. So if you do and you get caught it is no longer illegal! Plus if you are inactive you no longer have to show ID to state who you are to vote.

“And then there are new strict provisions the military must follow to vote. Imagine that…the Military who put their lives on the line to protect a free nation has to jump through hoops to vote but everyone else no rules!”

Orrin is a moderate Republican who criticizes conservatives. I’m a conservative who criticizes moderate Republicans (as well as idiot Republicans like Mark SureWould and Pudd’nhead Bob Hastings). Take your pick.

Nice Shootin’, Tex!

On December 30, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

I’m sure it’s politically incorrect and not very sensitive to cheer the death of a fellow human being, but there are exceptions to every rule.

Jhalon Glass, at his tender young age of 18, “had several run-ins with local law enforcement” in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, including “a criminal history as an adult for crimes including burglary, robbery, possession of a firearm and marijuana possession.”

On Wednesday morning, Glass attempted to rob a pawnshop. There were customers in the store, but no police officers were present to thwart the robbery attempt.

Instead, a shoot-out occurred between Glass and a store employee who was armed for self-defense. After the smoke cleared, Glass reached the condition of zero respiration. As such, no costly trial or taxpayer-funded incarceration. And no possibility that some day the dirt bag would be released from detention to continue his criminal enterprises.

All in all, a good day for the good guys, the community as a whole and the Second Amendment!

Government, How I Hate Thee…Let Me Count the Ways

On December 30, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

Some people still don’t understand why I loathe so much about government. So let me give you another example.

Our non-profit organization, Citizen Outreach, has a rifle autographed by rock-and-roll legend Ted Nugent which we want to raffle off as a fundraiser tied to our 2012 Conservative Leadership Conference in Las Vegas this coming June.

No big deal, right? You print up 1,000 tickets, sell ‘em, draw the winning number – complete the government-mandated background check (aargghh)! – and deliver the prize to the winner. What could be complicated about that, right?

Well…here’s what.

Such a simple raffle for a non-profit organization in the state of Nevada is considered a “lottery.” As such, it is controlled and regulated by the Gaming Control Board, whose “permission” we’re required to obtain to raffle off the “Cat Scratch Fever” rifle.

And get a load of the government regulations, fees and red tape your Nevada Legislature has established to “control” such a simple raffle for charitable organizations:

Another reason for taking such a hard line against tax hikes is that it’s always easier to raise taxes than cut even the tiniest of spending on even the stupidest and most useless of programs, thanks to government employees who will defend them to the death. A recent Las Vegas Sun story provides further proof.

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) released his list of “The Most Wasteful and Low Priority Government Spending of 2011” last week. Making the list was $60,000 the city of Henderson, NV received for a “tree survey and inventory.” I kid you not. Sixty large of federal “stimulus” taxpayer dollars for a local “tree census.”

Would someone please roll Thomas Jefferson back over in his grave? Thank you.

Now, to the average citizen there’s no way on God’s green earth to justify such a wasteful, unnecessary expenditure, right? Ah, but you don’t fully appreciate how the mind of a government bureaucrat, whose lifeline is tied to your wallet, works when threatened.

Meet Kim Becker.

Clark County GOP’s Christmas Eve Caucus Disaster

On December 24, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

It may be the eve of peace on earth and goodwill toward men, but that’s not stopping the Clark County Republican Party from blowing itself up from within.

Below you’ll find a pair of rather extraordinary emails – the first from, Steve Esch, the man in charge of running the February 4 GOP presidential caucus, and the second from Dave Gibbs, the man in charge of the Clark County Republican Party.

This cannot end well…

Correction on the Orrin Johnson Plagiarism Story

On December 24, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

I know I wrote yesterday that I was taking Christmas weekend off; however, due to a misunderstanding in communications, I made a error in yesterday’s Muth’s Truths and it’s important enough to fix today rather than wait until Monday.

After yesterday’s e-newsletter went out, I found out that Orrin Johnson did NOT plagiarized Ellie Lopez-Bowlan’s research work in a campaign mailer in 2010. That was two other candidates.

What Johnson is actually accused of ripping off is Lopez-Bowlan’s exposure of the plagiarism in a press release he sent out which criticized the other candidates.

But rather than taking a chance on getting the information incorrect again, I’ll let Lopez-Bowlan herself explain exactly what happened:

University Regent Takes Ralston to School

On December 23, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

University Regent Ron Knecht inked an op-ed for the Nevada Appeal on today that blasts holes in a recent liberal think tank’s claims regarding higher ed funding in Nevada…

“A recent Brookings Institute study on economic growth in Nevada…was marred by a high-profile false claim it made that provided red meat for the statists who dominate academe and the mainstream media. Smash-mouth left-wing pundit Jon Ralston trumpeted gleefully Brookings’ claim that Nevada not only underfunds higher education, but is last among comparable states by a significant margin. The claim is a classic Big Lie. Nevada’s higher-education funding is in the mainstream and even high by some measures.”

Knecht went on to note that “Nevada higher-education regents, administrators and faculty are working to improve academic quality” in Nevada’s university system despite “challenges of a Great Recession caused mainly by public-sector excesses that Brookings, Ralston and other statists promote. Our efforts are hindered, not helped, by the Chicken Little squawks of ideologues and special interests.”

“Journalist”/political activist/ideologue Jon Ralston is guilty of a “big lie” to help advance the liberal agenda in Nevada? I’m shocked (not).

When it comes to the issue of illegal immigration – and that’s what I’m talking about here; illegal, not legal immigration – no one, except Newt Gingrich, wants to talk about the 800-pound gorilla in the room: What do we do with the estimated 10-12 million illegals presently residing in the U.S.?

And there are really only two options here, folks.

We can either deport/force-march millions of people back over the border – which would entail breaking up many, many families; some, as Gingrich has pointed out, who have lived here since before Al Gore invented the Internet. Or we can figure out an acceptable compromise, short of “amnesty,” to allow some, under specific conditions, to remain.

Sorry, but I have no interest in being part of “Trail of Tears II” in American history. So those of you who embrace the “Deport ‘em all and let God sort ‘em out” position can stop reading right here. For the rest of you, consider the following seven suggestions as a jumping off point for further discussion.

Yahoo Alert: Meet the New Mark “Sure Would”

On December 21, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Chuck Muth

There’s a political water boy up in Dayton, Nevada named Bob Hastings who did the bidding of Jon Ralston and Orrin Johnson in filing a frivolous IRS complaint against me last week. And Bob is just SO proud of himself; why, he’s nearly bustin’ his buttons.

“Jon Ralston likes me! He really, really likes me!”

And the little fella just can’t wait “for Chuck Muth to attack and tell me how wrong I am and how I don’t understand.”

Well, sorry to disappoint, but why in the world would I tell him – or Johnson or Ralston – what mistakes they’ve made in pursuing this silly complaint which will end up making all three look foolish?

In the meantime, here’s a little more about Bob:
