A Flexible Definition of Flexibility

Have you noticed that when conservatives in Nevada take hikes off the table, they are derided, often ridiculed, as “inflexible” and “short-sighted,” yet when the other side insists that tax hikes HAVE to be in the mix, those folks are lauded as “visionaries” and “reasonable”?

Why the double-standard?

I mean, if the objective on this issue is for everyone to come to the table “flexibly,” then shouldn’t the other side be required to come to the table with an open mind toward the possibility of balancing the budget without tax hikes if the other side has to come to the table with an open mind toward tax?
